Anne Elvedal’s gripping psychological thriller You Can Call Me Jan has earned its place on both Adresseavisa’s and NRK’s prestigious lists of the best books of the year.
In its glowing review, NRK praises Elvedal’s adult fiction debut as “an exceptionally well-written and daring deep dive into a disturbed mind.” Set in a psychiatric hospital in Trondheim, the novel unravels a chilling narrative where the staff’s mental states overshadow those of the patients. NRK describes the book as “a masterful demonstration of a paranoid psychological thriller,” where “you can’t trust anyone, not even the false memories themselves.”
The book’s international appeal is undeniable, with rights already sold to Germany (Ulstein), Denmark (Straarup & Co), and the Netherlands (Prometheus). Further cementing its success, You Can Call Me Jan has been selected as a NORLA Selected Title for Autumn 2024, underlining its position as one of the most exciting Norwegian literary exports of the year.
