Norwegian bestselling crime author Jørgen Jæger continues his impressive international rise. This week, the German publisher Gutkind Verlag acquired rights to a three-book deal, marking a new milestone in Jæger’s expanding global presence.
With this latest agreement, Jæger’s works have now been sold to nine countries, with over 60 international rights deals concluded so far—solidifying his position as one of Norway’s most widely exported crime authors.
A Major Screen Adaptation Arrives This Easter
Adding to the momentum, this Easter sees the highly anticipated launch of The Sogn Murders, a new crime series based on Jæger’s universe. The series stars Kristofer Hivju, internationally known from Game of Thrones, in the lead role.
Set against the dramatic landscapes of the Sognefjord on Norway’s west coast, The Sogn Murders follows Ole Vik, a 43-year-old police investigator heading the local station in the fictional fruit-growing village of Fjellberghavn. Vik’s quiet rural life is challenged both by the looming closure of his station—threatened by the merging of police districts—and by the arrival of Cecilie Hopen, a 25-year-old officer from Kripos.
A Strengthening Global Brand
With the German deal secured and a major TV adaptation premiering soon, Jørgen Jæger’s appeal continues to expand far beyond Norway’s borders. The combination of fast-paced plots, strong character dynamics, and richly atmospheric settings has resonated widely—making Jæger one of the most exciting Nordic crime voices on the international stage.
Norway’s largest independent literary agency, Northern Stories, has been named a Gazelle Company by Dagens Næringsliv for the second consecutive year. In 2024, the agency grew its turnover from NOK 10.2 to 15.8 million – an increase of more than 50 percent, marking yet another record year.
