Martin Baldysz made his literary debut with Winter Cravings (Vintertrang) in 2013 and is also the author of the historical series Breaking Waves. In 2022, his novel The Cairns was published to critical acclaim, followed by Beyond the Shallows in 2024. He is also the author of the Ryer series, a historical crime series set in early 20th-century Norway, with two novels published to date. The first, The Silence Beneath, won the 2026 award for Best Norwegian Crime Debut.
